Over six decades, 220 acres, and 45,000 square feet of casually refined Clubhouse space, our sense of community remains constant. International is home to a shared dream, a mutual respect, a kindred spirit. Unfolding within a natural backdrop that feels a world away from the everyday, it’s a sight to see and a difference you can feel.
Ah, the many frequencies of International fun…swim meet heats, summer camp drills, comedy night sets, family bingo rounds, parent-child dances, menu pairings and courses, and more. With room to spread out and holidays to gather around, there’s no age limit on Club culture here.
Introducing the company you keep…and the pickleball partner you need. Around here, inner circles have a way of expanding across pub chairs, firepits, and match points. It’s a beautiful thing when people choose to slow down and surround themselves with the like-minded, the fun-loving, and the young-at-heart.
The ICC calendar unfolds with endless engagements. We firmly believe that First Thursdays bring live music, weekends begin with Happy Hours, no holiday is too small for a family photo op, and patio cigars go better with scotch. Men’s Nights and Ladies’ Thirsty Thursdays put a casual spin on the golf calendar, and throughout the courts and the Clubhouse, it’s reasonable to expect a tasting at nearly every turn.
International isn’t the same Club it was when our doors first opened…and we’re not the same Club we were even three years ago. The $11.4 million realization of spacious new interiors and resort-style amenities to our Clubhouse is only one very large example…and if that sounds appealing, you’ll love what we’ve done with our championship golf course. Big or small, if there’s room for improvement, we’re likely already under way.
A warm and friendly welcome at the starter. The preferred number of olives in your martini. A wine recommendation suited to your taste. We’ll win you over with the little things – and a promise that they’ll add up quickly. You can leave your stress behind…we’ll take things from here.
“I have found the most terrific golf course on the Eastern Seaboard and nobody knows about it. It’s new, and is called International…”
Letter from a Guest, 1962
We hail from the golden age of ball flight. In 1961, as the newly-inaugurated JFK was settling into the White House, a modest club debuted near the Fairfax-Chantilly line at Stringfellow Road, with 18 holes and a single one-story structure that doubled as a pro shop and a snack bar.
Because Dulles would soon connect Fairfax to the world, and because a person’s reach should always exceed their grasp, this country club upstart was christened International. Planning for plenty of runway was an early theme; the first nine holes played a prodigious 3,518 yards.
